About The Authors
TOM AKI
Local boy, Tom Aki, is an entrepreneur and man of many talents. From starting his own plant nursery business, to creating his own fruit juice and tea companies in California, and most recently his venture into the construction industry, Tom's interests reflect his many talents. Drawing from his own childhood experiences, Little Kahuna and Da Menehune is the culmination of his vision to empower children with positive values such as kindness and compassion, and the power to believe in ones self to accomplish whatever task you set your mind to.
ELIZABETH LEE
Elizabeth Lee grew up in Hawai'i, where her parents helped foster an appreciation for nature and the outdoors through weekend hikes in the mountains. She attended the University of Colorado where she earned a BFA in Art History and the University of Hawai'i, where she graduated with a Professional Diploma in Elementary Education and a MEd in Curriculum and Instruction. She has taught in both public and private schools for thirty years. Her childhood dream of creating a children's book has come to fruition with her collaboration with Tom Aki, as she brings her knowledge of the reading process and understanding of children to the pages of the Little Kahuna and Da Menehune book series.
